![]() ![]() There is nothing written in the log when this happens. Is there a log.txt file next to FanControl.exe with recent date entries? It will sometimes exit properly, but the restart loop always happens - with icons vanishing and reappearing, cards vanishing and reappearing even if I click "Cancel" when it tries to fix the sensors or save the config. And turning cards on and off does not change the fan RPMs at all, it seems the program is frozen entirely with the UI still responsive. It is still responsive and I can do other things like turning cards on and off, but I cannot exit cleanly. After this happens, when I click on "exit", whether in the icon context menu or from the hamburger menu, the program will not exit. I would like to know why it was installed on my system, what it is for, and whether there is any downside to disabling the service that runs this program.Starting Fan Control v162 for the first time after boot (many minutes after), all the cards will disappear and re-appear several times before the program has loaded properly. What is the purpose of "ID19 HP Fan Control Service" and program FanControlApp.exe? I can find no documentation for the service or the program. If I stop this service the fans continue to run when Windows puts the monitor into sleep mode, as they should. The fans appear to stop because of the "ID19 HP Fan Control Service" which starts automatically at bootup and runs program "C:\Program Files\FanControlApp\FanControlApp.exe". (Note that the *monitor* has been put to sleep, not the *computer*). When Windows puts my external/standalone monitor to sleep, this desktop computer's case and processor cooling fans stop running and the internal temperature increases by more than 20 degrees C. The system has three cooling fans: one in the power supply, one mounted above the processor, and one exhaust fan in the rear of the case.
